Humane World for Animals, formerly the Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International, is a global nonprofit organization that focuses on animal welfare and opposes animal-related cruelties of national scope. It uses strategies that are beyond the abilities of local organizations.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®works to save animals from dogfighting, puppy mills, hoarding and other cruelty situations. We provide animals medical care and behavioral rehabilitation, and help thousands of animals find loving homes every year. We respond to emergencies when disaster strikes, and fight for stronger laws to protect animals. The Animal Welfare Institute is a charity organization founded in 1951 that works to improve the lives of animals by promoting humane policies and practices. They work to end animal cruelty, promote the humane treatment of animals, and advocate for laws and regulations that protect animals. The Animal Welfare Institute is headquartered in Washington, D.C. They have a four-star rating from Charity Navigator.
